The Images

As we strive to record memories, to commit to our minds the beauty and simplicity of the forests and woodlands, the planting and tending, so others, through the ages have striven to remember what was.
Somehow, for all our changing, for all the growth, inherently we stay the same.
We have been impressed to record such simple scenes as the planting, animals in the fields and woodlands.
The images below, of animals and plants, were painted between the 9th and 15th centuries.

Animals

These, painted by Gaston Phoebus, in his "Book of the Hunt " France, Paris, 15th Century.
The Count of Croix, he decided to record the beauty of the animals he encountered in his travels.

Planting and Harvest

These, attributed to the Limbourg brothers in th 15th century, show the planting and harvest from early spring through late fall.
Note that the astrological symbols are used, as well as signs from the heavens, rather than the actual month names.
